In 2011 I had the honor to have Dick Pittman on the radio show. He had no interest in talking about the Medal, so we spent a good hour talking about the issues with the VA and its poor service to Veterans. Keep in mind that Dick was a MoH recipient, and had full “head of the line” privileges at the VA, which he constantly refused to use. He was kind and interesting and passionate about the well being of his fellow Veterans of all generations.
