THE Game 7 of Game 7’s

CLEVELAND – In a World Series clash for the ages, Game 7 at Progressive Field will be remembered as one of the most exhilarating, nerve-wracking, and heart-stopping games in baseball history. A 108-year curse was laid to rest, and though our Cleveland Indians gave their all, it was the Chicago Cubs who left victorious with an 8-7 win in 10 innings.

Right from the outset, the game pulsated with tension. The Cubs took an early lead, with Dexter Fowler smashing a leadoff home run against our ace, Corey Kluber. The crowd was momentarily silenced, but hope was never lost. The Indians clawed their way back into the game, with runs in the third and fifth innings, only to see the Cubs extend their lead to 5-1 by the top of the fifth.

Rajai Davis, however, provided the moment of magic that sent Progressive Field into euphoria. Down 6-4 in the eighth inning, Davis belted a two-run homer off Chicago’s Aroldis Chapman, tying the game and putting the possibility of a Cleveland championship firmly within reach.

But then, in a twist seemingly pulled from the script of a Hollywood drama, rain delayed the game just before the start of the 10th inning. The pause in play felt like a cruel tease, heightening the anticipation.

The Cubs regrouped during that delay and came out firing. With runs from Ben Zobrist and Miguel Montero, they quickly took an 8-6 lead. Though the Indians would rally once more with a run in the bottom half, the night, ultimately, belonged to Chicago.

Despite the gut-wrenching loss, there’s a silver lining that cannot be overlooked. This World Series displayed the resilience, talent, and fighting spirit of our Cleveland Indians. Their journey to Game 7 was nothing short of remarkable, and it captivated the heart of every Cleveland fan.

It’s said that baseball is a game of inches and moments. Last night, we witnessed countless unforgettable moments that will forever be etched in the annals of the sport. The pain of coming so close yet falling short is undeniable. But this team, this city, should hold its head high.

In the days to come, the sting of this loss will slowly fade, replaced by proud memories of an incredible season. Cleveland will rise again, stronger and hungrier. And when it does, we’ll be ready to write the next chapter of our storied baseball history.
