January 11, 1693 The Wrath of God

Was I brought here merely to have my nose dragged away as I was about to nibble the sacred cheese of life?”

In his 1897 short story The Open Boat, Stephen Crane writes of the puniness of humanity, when bared and exposed to the wrath of God, or of Nature, as you please.  On this day in 1693, those Seven Mad Gods got together, and unleashed the wrath of the ages.
