I wanted to take a moment to let you know about a few changes in the works here at Dave Does History.
First, the podcast is shifting gears. Episodes will be shorter and more to the point. Instead of just reading the articles out loud, I’ll be focusing on concise storytelling made for listening. If you want the full deep dive, that’s what the articles are for. Those will be even more detailed and extensive than before.

On a personal note, I’ve got major shoulder surgery coming up. I see the surgeon in September to schedule it, and presuming that my a1c is under control, it will be scheduled at that point. As of today, I do not know exactly when yet. Since I’m right-handed and my right arm will be completely immobilized for five weeks, things may move a little slower while I recover. I’ll keep working as best I can, but it’s going to be an adventure in patience, creativity, and figuring out how to get things done with one arm.
All of this is still a giant experiment for me. Part of the fun is learning new tools and pushing myself to do things differently. I’ve even invested in a new laptop* to better support the work. This project keeps me sharp and keeps me connected with history, and with all of you.
In the meantime, if you haven’t yet, please check out and follow my other podcasts:

Thanks for listening, reading, and taking part in this journey with me.
*Yes, I… the PC loyalist since the PC was invented, bough an Apple Macbook… While I use iPhone and iPad, I have always avoided the Mac computers. But now… I shall learn that as well. The idea was to be able to integrate better with my smaller devices. We shall see…
